Allergy Wheezing: Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis & Treatment

December 29, 2023 By Ravi Chopra
Allergy Wheezing Causes Symptoms Diagnosis Treatment

Allergies are immune responses to various substances, known as allergens, that come in contact with the body very easily. These substances can be found in drinks, fruits, vegetables, other foods, and the environment. Most allergens are harmless, but a few people with weak immunity often fall prey to allergic substances like pollution, dust, pet hair, pollen, medications, or foods.

Allergic reactions normally lead to discomfort in the throat, and someone with this problem may find breathing a struggle. A sharp whistling sound known as wheezing comes out when the affected takes a breath. However, the steepest increase of such reactions has been observed among children as their immunity is low, which makes them vulnerable to allergic symptoms. Here are some more.

Allergic reactions are irritating no matter how old you are. Sometimes symptoms of allergy or allergic reaction could be the signs of asthma.  Obstructions in the air passage that cause wheezing are difficult to withstand. Consulting a doctor can help the victims identify the causes. Its treatments depend on the specific allergens, and one can mitigate the discomfort by taking prescribed medicine.

Is Wheezing Caused by Allergies?

Wheezing can be caused for a wide variety of reasons which need to be identified quickly. Some potential causes are...

What Are Allergic Reactions?

Allergic reactions are the consequences of the body's response to harmful allergens. However, it is not an immediate reaction. The body's immune system eventually develops sensitivity to the new particles before reacting to them. When the immune system reacts to allergens, it causes irritation and inflammation. It can be visible in the following parts of the body

1. Throat
2. Nose
3. Eyes
4. Ears
5. Lungs
6. Stomach
7. Skin

Cause of Inflammation

Allergens are foreign particles that mostly get rejected as the human body produces antibodies and histamine to fight off the allergens. In this process, histamine makes airways inflamed with mucus that leads to narrowed airways causing a distinctive whistling sound while breathing.

So, what are symptoms of allergy? The main symptom of allergy is wheezing that hardly lasts for 4-5 days. People mistakenly consider it as a cough symptom. It is mostly felt when an affected person breathes in and out with severe discomfort in the chest and throat.

Anaphylactic Shock Symptoms: Severe allergic reaction to antigen can be life-threatening. The body becomes hypersensitive, and this state is known as anaphylactic shock. Needless to say, immediate medical assistance is required to treat this critical condition. Some of the common symptoms are rapid breathing, bluish skin, swelling of lips, and critical condition.

Allergic Asthma Symptoms

Allergic Asthma Symptoms

Allergic asthma attacks are quite common among asthma patients. However, not everyone is affected with allergen induced asthma. Its symptoms are chest congestion, shortness of breath, coughing, etc. These signs often mislead people who extensively look for flu symptoms and cure.

Sometimes many drugs trigger allergic reactions. Consulting a doctor will help one determine the underlying signs of allergies and health conditions. However, flu treatment is possible without taking a doctor's help until it pains you for more than a week. If you are looking for natural cures for cold, cough, and flu, you can try a wide variety of home remedies like steam, turmeric milk, gargle with warm water and salt. Such remedies may be cumbersome and likely to be time consuming flu treatments.

PhytoRelief CC, which is a natural cough relief product containing turmeric, ginger, and pomegranate extracts has been developed precisely to cure the symptoms of these ailments. Its antioxidant properties help in boosting the immune system and additionally shortens the severity of cold symptoms like sore throat, runny nose, upper respiratory tract infection, and allergic inflammation. This is arguably and probably the best cold medicine without side-effects.
